Tamil Nadu State Government staffs to go on strike
The Tamil Nadu Government Employees Association on Saturday reiterated that the members of the association would begin an indefinite strike from April 25 to press for their six-point charter of demands.
A resolution to that effect was adopted at its conference held here. A large number of its members from various parts of the State attended the conference, which was presided over by State president M. Subramanian.
Withdrawal of new pension scheme and reintroducing old pension scheme, provision of interim relief of 20% from January 2016, abolition of outsourcing and filling up of vacancies through time scale were among their demands. Mr. Subramanian said the association had already given strike notice to the Government a month ago. However, no one from the Government had called for negotiation.
A resolution adopted at the conference condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to accept the demands of agitating Tamil Nadu farmers in New Delhi.
