Karnataka state government employees demand 30% salary hike
The Karnataka State Government Employees Association representing 6.2 lakh employees working across various departments met the head of pay commission on Thursday and demanded an increase in their salary by 30% at the earliest.
This after the Commission failed to effect a salary hike by 30% from April 1, 2017 as was promised earlier, say the members of Karnataka State Government Employees Association.
On Thursday, Karnataka State Government Employees Association submitted a detailed report analyzing the comparative salary structures of Karnataka employees compared to Central government employees as well as other state government employees.
BP Manje Gowda, president at Karnataka State Government Employees Association, said: “It has been found that there are wide gaps between salaries paid to Karnataka state government employees compared to that paid to central government employees or other state government employees and we are one of the lowest paid.”
“We had requested the commission to hike the salary by 30% with retrospective effect from April 1, 2017. We have also apprised the commission that since 1982 all the pay commissions have given the reports in a short span of time and hence this commission has been requested to give its final report at the earliest and increase our salary,” he added.
