Bhubaneswar: The State Government has set a target to construct 7,000 km roads under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) this year. This has been announced at a State level steering committee meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the State Secretariat on Friday.
Engineer-in-Chief Prabir Pradhan informed that while PMGSY project was sanctioned to provide read connectivity to 16,555 villages in Odisha, 13,976 villages have already been provided with roads.
In 2016-17 fiscal, 5,797 km roads have been built and it has targeted to construct 7,000 km roads during the current year.
It has been estimated that Rs 1,096 crore would be spent for construction of 7,000 km of roads during the current year.
